The webinar builds on a 2024 ODI Briefing Paper commissioned by the Grand Bargain Secretariat, which identified Humanitarian Blended Finance (HBF) as a promising set of innovative partnering and financing approaches for fragile contexts, supported by strong proof of concept, a growing project pipeline, and potential for replication and scale.
To deepen the evidence base and identify best practices, in May 2025, HIFHUB and the Grand Bargain Secretariat engaged Convergence, the global network for blended finance, to conduct a targeted study consulting with experts across sectors.
To share and discuss early findings from the ongoing research, this 23 June webinar featured:
- An introduction by the Grand Bargain and the HIFHUB
- A presentation of Convergence’s early conclusions and draft recommendations on best practices in blended finance for fragile and conflict-affected situations
- A series of concise “power talks” from key stakeholders in the humanitarian, development, and private sectors
- Q&A and discussion with participants
This exchange offered valuable insights into how blended finance can be leveraged more effectively in fragile settings and what’s needed to take promising models to the next level.
